Well to say we had a good time up in the Hunter would be an understatement nearly as big as saying Tiger is probably the best player in the world!!
We started our jaunt with a trip to a good old fashioned country golf course, which wasn’t just cheap and cheerful, but provided us with an entertaining round filled with dog leg holes and cold beer, all, right next door to the Cessnock Correctional facility!!
The format for the day at The Oaks Country Club, Cessnock, was a two ball best ball stableford, since we didn’t have any pro’s in our field we couldn’t have a pro-am, so we had to settle for am-am, so the teams lined up like this;
Brothers Mercer
Ritchie, Bathwater
Double B’s (Brent, Bats)
AB (AD, Ben)
The results like this;
Brothers Mercer 48pts
Ritchie, Bathwater 46pts
Double B’s 44pts
A & B 43pts
Returning former inaugural player Paul “The Bats” Battersby made what would be classified as a crucial error on his resumption to Spackler events, after much conjecture about what handicap he should play off, backed up by his teammate, he was, through gritted teeth allowed to play off 24, by the end of play he had 42 points and was informed by his new playing group that, that would be the last time he would play off that and was duly cut for the remainder of the real weekends play! Our individual winner of the day was Merce with 43, where Bats casually asked what Merce would play off for the remainder of the weekend was quickly cut off by Brothers Merce with “non comp”!!!!!!!!!
I would never have gifted Bats such a generous handicap offer. That guy would be off single figures if spent more time on course and less time in the hummer.
